At Meadowbrook Counselling, in Eastham, on the Wirral, we believe in a holistic approach to mental health. Our integrative counselling methods cater to your unique needs, ensuring a safe space for personal growth and healing for all adults aged 18 and over.
We are here to provide a safe space to talk and to be accepted without judgement and from an outside the situation viewpoint.
ADHD Counselling ~ Neurodiversity Counselling ~ Anxiety ~ Depression ~ Stress ~ Life Changes ~ Infant Loss ~ Infertility ~ Rainbow Baby Specialist
As a neurodivergent counsellor, with both training in and lived experience of ADHD and autism, I am sensitive to the specific needs of individuals with neurodiversity coming into the counselling room. During our first session we will establish what small changes can be made to ensure the counselling space feels safe and comfortable for you, for example, whether you can see the clock, whether you prefer brighter or dimmer lighting etc. You are also welcome to bring fidget toys or other comfort aides into the counselling space. I do ask that your phone is switched to silent and put away whilst the session is in progress to minimise distractions during the session.
Using an integrative method of counselling I use a blend of person-centred counselling, psychodynamic counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). What that means is that firstly I am here to listen to you and for you to be heard, without judgement and with empathy and understanding. We may talk about what has happened for you in the past or look at tools to make daily life a little easier, but each session is lead by you. Counselling is different to coaching, I'm not here to give advice, but to help you to explore who you are, what is happening for you, and what that means for you.

Meadowbrook Counselling offers face-to-face individual counselling, to adults aged 18+, at their counselling suite in Eastham. Using an integrative model enables us to blend three different modalities to provide the best level of service to an individual. Meadowbrook Counselling is not a coaching or advice service.
A counselling session with Meadowbrook Counselling typically lasts for 50 minutes, although session length may vary depending on your specific needs and preferences. These sessions will take place once per week, on the same day, at the same time.
No two individuals are the same and counselling is no different. Most people find that they start to notice a difference after a few sessions. Typically sessions work in blocks of six weeks. At Meadowbrook Counselling there is the option for longer term counselling, ending your counselling sessions will always be discussed collaboratively.
During your first session with Meadowbrook Counselling, your therapist will ask you questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counselling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counselling process. There will be an initial assessment questionnaire to cover basic details, emergency contacts and GP details, plus an assessment to identify how your life is being impacted by low mood or anxiety symptoms. We will also go through a counselling agreement, also known as contracting, so you know what to expect from the counselling service.
An emergency contact and GP details are recorded in case of a mental or physical health emergency so that we can get you help and keep you safe. We do not routinely contact your GP or provide a report to them, and we would always try to discuss whether contact was necessary with you beforehand, if it is safe to do so. Meadowbrook Counselling is not a crisis service and contact between sessions will only take place for scheduling purposes.
Each 50 minute session, including the initial introduction session is £50. This is to be paid via bank transfer or standing order no less than 24 hours before each session. Appointment cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance, otherwise you will be expected to pay for the missed session.
Counselling students receive a reduced rate of £40 per session in order to gain their mandatory counselling requirement.
Press the button marked Meadowbrook Counselling on the intercom pad in order to gain entrance through the locked front door. The door will be unlocked, when the intercom is answered. Pull the door towards you and step inside, you will see a set of stairs to your right. Walk up the flight of stairs and the door to the waiting room is marked Meadowbrook Counselling on your right. Push open the door and take a seat, your counsellor will come to greet you at the appointment time. Please do not enter the waiting room earlier than 10 minutes before your appointment time to ensure confidentiality for other clients.
There is a lift that goes up to the first floor. Instead of going up the stairs walk to the end of the entrance hall and turn left through a door. Go down the hall and turn right. You will see the lift on your right hand side. Once you exit on the first floor you will turn left, walk down the corridor until the end and go through the door on your right. This will bring you out on the landing of the staircase and the waiting room door will be on your right by the window.
It would be unethical to carry out sessions with babies or children present as it is important for the client to be able to speak freely and openly in order to gain the best possible outcome. Please arrange adequate childcare before attending sessions, if applicable.
At this time we are unable to provide counselling services to children and young adults under the age of 18 years.
No. As a counselling service we can help you to explore how you feel about a potential diagnosis and what that would mean for you but we are not qualified to provide a diagnosis.
